Delores Fisher December: End of 2019 Poet/Pianist Update

Thank you new readers in Ireland, the Philippines, and Pakistan. Here's a Black History month blast from the past photo. It doesn't seem like two years ago when I featured as guest poet at a local San Diego coffee house. This photo brought back memories. Quite a few poets were in the audience. Activist and writer Gloria Verdieu was in the audience. I hadn't seen her in several weeks although I was aware of some of her community work during 2019.                            Gloria Verdieu, Reg E. Gaines, and me Delores Fisher Since I was recovering from a serious viral illness, that lasted several weeks, Megan Webster and Olga Gutierrez Garcia graciously consented to co-feature with me. It was a uniting of 3 of our 4nth poetry group from the early 2000s. Rev. Kelli Parish Lucas was not there due to a miscommunication on my part. We missed Kelli's prese...

Delores Fisher's 2019 Comc Con Adventures Part 2

Hello Ukraine, Canada, and France!              Comic Con 2019 was full of outdoors on the sidewalks fun, wandering through crowds, posing with cosplayers and attending the Comic Conference for Educators and Librarians at the San Diego Central Library.    San Diego's libraries hold a variety of events spanning entertainment programs to educational workshops. I especially enjoy the cultural and music events.  https://www.sandiego.gov/public-library/news-events/concertseries     During Comic Con week, the library hosts events open to the general public. I heard about the event from DJ Lance Rock (Yo Gabba Gabba)                                 Delores Fisher and DJ Lance Rock at Comic Con 2019 Running from Wednesday thru Sunday,...

Hello to new readers in Japan, Spain, Ukraine, and Mexico! Delores Fisher  (Photo 2018---Autumn is here!) It's been a while since my previous  post, so here's an October update before my second Comic Con 2019 Literacy Conference post. A huge, grateful shout out to San Diego Who Con (Dr. Who Convention). http://www.sdwhocon.com/ If you are a local or global Dr. Who fan, get your tickets early because they sell out fast. Not only does Who Con present Futurism, space travel, dimensional thinking,  Sci-Fi,  and fantasy, it also presents panels on hard science topics.                                    Speaking of hard science, thank you to the BSSO (Black Student Sciences Organization) from San Diego State for their insightful panel discussion about the importance of  encouraging people of c...

Delores Fisher's 2019 Comc Con Adventures Part 1

Hello Germany!!!!!!!                         Delores Fisher at Comic Con 2019 Comic Con International San Diego over flowed through East Village's side streets with rollicking fun.I looked around a few days before Comic Con opened. It seemed as if a twilight zone time breach was circled the area.A few promotional television, gamer, and film banners were on buildings. However,  I went to Petco Park and couldn't find the ferris wheel; the Fan Zone wasn't where I expected. I crossed the bridge in anticipation. At the bottom of the bridge, I spotted more activity. However, as I walked to the water front, it had only a few displays with NO PHOTOS PLEASE signs. So, I complied. I continued my walk. Where was the IMDB boat. Maybe tomorrow? Then, I met a cosplayer/panel discussant who hinted at a public Comic Con 2019 educational/literacy event. However, I wai...

In Memory of Poet Extraordinare: Megan Webster July 2019

Hello New Zealand, Ukraine, Philippines, Malaysia, and Brazil! Would you believe that summer break is almost over and it's time to start working on course materials for Fall semester? It's also time to finish all those blog stories I meant to complete in June. I have been resting, strolling, and thinking about so much of this summer's somewhat intense global, local, and national events. I have decided to take an important detour stroll down memory lane first.                                                  Delores Fisher and D. G. Wills in 2019 Dennis Wills is a book store owner in La Jolla California. He also is a strong supporter of the arts. It is here in his book store that I got my start as a young San Diego poet.                 ...
