Delores Fisher's 2019 Comc Con Adventures Part 1

Hello Germany!!!!!!!

Delores Fisher at Comic Con 2019

Comic Con International San Diego over flowed through East Village's side streets with rollicking fun.I looked around a few days before Comic Con opened. It seemed as if a twilight zone time breach was circled the area.A few promotional television, gamer, and film banners were on buildings. However,  I went to Petco Park and couldn't find the ferris wheel; the Fan Zone wasn't where I expected. I crossed the bridge in anticipation.

At the bottom of the bridge, I spotted more activity. However, as I walked to the water front, it had only a few displays with NO PHOTOS PLEASE signs. So, I complied. I continued my walk. Where was the IMDB boat. Maybe tomorrow? Then, I met a cosplayer/panel discussant who hinted at a public Comic Con 2019 educational/literacy event.

However, I waited a few days later, one day before th official opening, and was greeted by bursts of activity. Across Harbor Drive from the Convention Center, open fan areas were beginning to be erected.

I crossed the street to the harborside of Comic Con. After asking, I was able to take a few photos of not completely set up fan events.

Here's one of my favorites.

I found the IMDB boat!!

I even found a few Cosplayers who followed my basic Cosplayer photo etiquette guidelines:

                                       Oh, those wonderful teachable moments

Cosplayers enjoyed a variety of side street venues and events before the official opening day this years Comic Con 2019.

As evening approached, I also found the Ferris wheel and a few pre-Con fans.I watched the light show tests and felt like a child at the county fair again. It was beautiful.

Everyone I met seemed enthusiastic, tired, but ready for opening day.

After a day or so of waiting after Comic Con 2019's official opening, I went Cosplayer watching. Cosplayers were all the way up to Broadway and 10th street

Selfie: Delores Fisher with really nice cosplayers!

I seem to spot more couples and children than usual this year. This is really becoming a family affair!

Several Black Panther cosplayers this year . . . sooooooooo dreamy!

Of Course, I had to do this photo op with this gorgeous Black Panther

despite the fun and photos, I felt compelled to search for a different type of Comic Con event. After sitting on several panels for various events, I wanted a few panel experiences this year.

I couldn't get the idea of a literacy conference out of my mind; so, I decided this year to limit my cosplayer photos and to concentrate on attending the conference at the San Diego Central Library's San Diego Comic Con three day educational event. More on the informative and inspirational Comics and Literacy panel discussions in my an upcoming post.

Part of A Legacy:Calvary Baptist Church San Diego

Those of you following me on Twitter and at The Center For World Music: https://centerforworldmusic.org/about-us/board/ know that I was a pianist at Calvary Baptist Church in San Diego California back in the day. Charles Ray was the organist/pianist, professor Jean Wesson was the music director. I also played accompanied the Calvary Baptist Church Youth Choir under the direction of Carol Durgan.  The church was known as Second Baptist in 1889 on the corner of  1st and B street. It was moved to  the corner of  then Crosby Street, https://www.calvarybcsd.org/history/   now known as 719 Cesar E. Chavez Pkwy. and at this time is following the leadership of pastor Dr. Emanuel Whipple Sr. And this Sunday in September 2012 Calvary Baptist Church had a Youth Choir Reunion Concert at 3:30. The concert was a musical extravaganza! This post is going viral so I must do a 2024 update: Hello Dr. Buchanon. Thank you for reading my post from 2012. I am honored!!!! Jellyfish around San Diego Embarcadero and Broadway Pier

Delores Fisher Blogger on an early Morning stroll Jellyfish are visiting the San Diego CA. Broadway Pier and Embarcadero again. Jellyfish appeared to swarm in this same area in 2012. Although I posted about the Black Nettle Jellyfish in July 2012, this was the first time since that year that I have seen any type of jellyfish in such numbers at the pier. http://carpenoctum2.blogspot.com/2012/08/black-sea-nettle-jellyfish-at.html   However, multiple sightings of similar and other jellyfish have increased since 2012. Several have been posted on youtube. 2015 has been an odd weather year for San Diego with heat and odd rainfall days (despite our drought). It is possible that temperature shifts are part of the reason why jellyfish are in our bays and near our beaches.  Our October weather has been unseasonably hot this early fall, similar to temperatures during earlier 2015 seasonal sightings.  Shannon Handy reported on a North County swarm of Sail jellyfish in May.
