America's Got Talent : i Luminate A New Horizon

Well, by now most of you know that this show, this season, is an interesting melange of artistic endeavor. International judging team Piers Morgan, Sharon Osbourne, and Howie Mandel had their plates full as they participated in multi-genre delineation.

As my readers know by now,  I am not a fan of such shows; however, I have been watching this season's "America's Got Talent." Everyone has a favorite. Mine is Team i Luminate. Technology can only extend to the limits of one's imagination. Choreotechorgrapher (Yes, I just coined a word) and i Luminate's leader Miral Kotb's work so far hints at future artistic terrains in process of becoming, anticipating media/art fusions.

i Luminate technology is the world's first wireless lighting system according to the official website: http://iluminate.com
Team i Luminate is an international modern/popular dance ensemble. It is one of several groups who have decided to further explore the concept and embed it into their performance aesthetic. Team iLuminate

This technology will either replace or enhance the laser and battery powered light show art forms of the past. And to be quite honest, I realize that due to this technology, 2012 commencement ceremonies will probably also never be the same. If it does not win the title of most talented,  Team i Luminate could sustain itself in the techno-educational world as well as in private sector educational and performance venues.

And, can we talk?? A majority of our current students are citizen's of the global technological future. They adeptly use mobile and wireless technology without hesitation. Our future is present. As music, dance, art, theater, and creative technology teachers continue to face layoffs nation wide, Team i Luminate is an inspiration. This group obviously have dance skills without the light show. They have sharp choreography. The directors have effectively merged two traditional forms and gave them an update. Freedom to pursue innovative ideas (and their applications) is one of the historic driving dynamics which have generated desire to  explore new aspects of our country's social/cultural/economic self-concept when confidence wavered. As a nation, this dynamic continues to encourage us to expand our horizons, to productively regenerate our national selves after an economic downtrend.

Piers Morgan said it best. Here's a synopsis of his and other judges comments from a blog I like to read America's Got Talent

A long while ago, my thoughts were stated clearly in a Negro Spiritual overflowing with coded lyrics and a message based on biblical scripture.

"This little light of mine,
I'm gonna let it shine.
Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine."

"Hide it under a bushel, No!.
I'm gonna let it shine.
Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine."

Flash your light artist!

Part of A Legacy:Calvary Baptist Church San Diego

Those of you following me on Twitter and at The Center For World Music: https://centerforworldmusic.org/about-us/board/ know that I was a pianist at Calvary Baptist Church in San Diego California back in the day. Charles Ray was the organist/pianist, professor Jean Wesson was the music director. I also played accompanied the Calvary Baptist Church Youth Choir under the direction of Carol Durgan.  The church was known as Second Baptist in 1889 on the corner of  1st and B street. It was moved to  the corner of  then Crosby Street, https://www.calvarybcsd.org/history/   now known as 719 Cesar E. Chavez Pkwy. and at this time is following the leadership of pastor Dr. Emanuel Whipple Sr. And this Sunday in September 2012 Calvary Baptist Church had a Youth Choir Reunion Concert at 3:30. The concert was a musical extravaganza! This post is going viral so I must do a 2024 update: Hello Dr. Buchanon. Thank you for reading my post from 2012. I am honored!!!! Jellyfish around San Diego Embarcadero and Broadway Pier

Delores Fisher Blogger on an early Morning stroll Jellyfish are visiting the San Diego CA. Broadway Pier and Embarcadero again. Jellyfish appeared to swarm in this same area in 2012. Although I posted about the Black Nettle Jellyfish in July 2012, this was the first time since that year that I have seen any type of jellyfish in such numbers at the pier. http://carpenoctum2.blogspot.com/2012/08/black-sea-nettle-jellyfish-at.html   However, multiple sightings of similar and other jellyfish have increased since 2012. Several have been posted on youtube. 2015 has been an odd weather year for San Diego with heat and odd rainfall days (despite our drought). It is possible that temperature shifts are part of the reason why jellyfish are in our bays and near our beaches.  Our October weather has been unseasonably hot this early fall, similar to temperatures during earlier 2015 seasonal sightings.  Shannon Handy reported on a North County swarm of Sail jellyfish in May.
