Hmm....what a year 2016 has been for us Earthlings/Terrestrials those who inhabit this world. What a roller coaster ride.  It's now near year's end, "the holiday season." In rejoicing, share joy; yet, morn with those who are suffering displacement, dire poverty, enduring loss. Remembrance First, a pause to give one last round of applause to those who are no longer on the world stage:  http://www.bbc.com/news/magazine-38418802?SThisFB And now, I offer a few random thoughts gathered during these last few months for Carpe Noctum reader...

Of course when Olga Gutierrez-Garcia, editor of the bilingual volume of the San Diego Poetry Annual and author of "Dark Matters," and I recently decided to make time to talk about newest events in our busy lives, it was an added bonus to go to a poetry reading, especially readings by the select group  of poets chosen for one of San Diego's  premiere poetry publications, The San Diego Poetry Annual 2015-2016     https://sandiegopoetryannual.com/   We try to sit down and hang out at least three times a year. I had completed lesson plans and was almost on the last week of teaching summer school with some pretty awesome, and cool students.            International poet Olga Gutierrez-Garcia at Bread and Cie (San Diego CA) Olga and I headed to Bread and Cie Cafe, had lig...

Comic-Con International: San Diego 2016 A Few Brief Comments

Fantasy "blogger play": Delores Fisher as correspondent  with the aid of Chris Smith from Sync Sound In a summer of global distress and trauma, global fans of games, cartoons, comic books, and fantasy worlds came together at Comic-Con International: San Diego  http://www.comic-con.org/ in relative peace to celebrate alternative realities built on foundations of the everyday. I was still adapting to playing the piano for two gospel music oriented church choirs, working on my second book, and teaching summer school when I realized preview day had arrived. Signs surrounded San Diego's downtown and East Village. This year's Comic -Con hinted at a more family friendly atmosphere and general public inclusivity.                                                                         ...

We talked about Kevin's hard work and and belief that San Diego, California would embrace the Fringe festival. This is his dream come true.  Kevin's his face glowed with joy. Standing quietly, we watched as the street filled with lines of audiences winding down the sidewalk waiting to see shows at the Geoffrey and the Spreckles Theater.
